Sorted Fundraising or Zeffy?

Zeffy is free for your group and asks parents for a tip. Here's where each one fits, what parents pay at checkout, and when you get the money.

Zeffy suits
Donation appeals, auctions, memberships and ticketed events, especially for registered charities.
Sorted suits
Things families order ahead and collect on one day, raffles, and fetes with a QR sign on every stall.
Fees
Zeffy charges your group nothing, and asks each parent for a contribution to Zeffy, already filled in. Sorted takes 3.7% in all, and parents can round up so your group keeps the full price.
Or use both
Use Zeffy for a donation appeal or an auction, and run your pre-orders and raffles here.

What the fees come to

With Sorted, parents pay exactly your price, and at checkout they can round up for your group with one tap. The smallest round-up covers both fees, so on that order your group keeps at least the full price. It's always their choice, never ticked for them, and we take no fee on it. See Pricing.

With Zeffy, your group gets the whole price, and parents are asked for a contribution to Zeffy on top. When we tried it, checkout started at 15%. Parents who change it to $0 pay just your price.

What parents see at checkout

Sorted FundraisingYour price, and under it two round-ups for your group, neither one chosen. One tap adds a round-up, and another tap takes it off.

ZeffyYour price, plus a contribution to Zeffy that's already filled in. When we tried an Australian checkout in October 2026, it started at 15%: $6 on a $40 order. To pay nothing extra, parents open the menu, choose Other and type 0.

Getting the money in time to pay the supplier

Sorted FundraisingEvery payment goes straight into your group's own Square account, and Square usually pays it into your bank the next day.

ZeffyZeffy pays out every Monday. Each payment is checked first, which usually takes 1 to 3 working days, so one made late in the week can wait until the Monday after. Its help centre says you can't speed a payout up, though some groups can get next-day payouts.

Collection day

Sorted FundraisingVolunteers open the pickup link on their own phones, with nothing to sign up for. They search a family's name, hand over what's on the list and tap Mark collected, and you can see who's still to come. See Run collection day.

ZeffyZeffy has an online shop, and scans tickets at the door. Its Australian home page doesn't mention pre-orders or a collection day.

Raffles

Sorted FundraisingEvery ticket is numbered the moment it's paid and emailed to the buyer, so there are no paper tickets. See Run a raffle draw.

ZeffyZeffy's help centre says Australian groups can't run raffles on it, because each state has its own rules.

Stalls at a fete

Sorted FundraisingEach stall gets its own QR sign. People scan it, pay on their own phones and show the stall Payment confirmed, so there's no card machine to pass round. See Run a fun day with stalls.

ZeffyZeffy's Tap to Pay turns a volunteer's phone into a card reader.

Where Zeffy does more

  • Your group gets every dollar of your price. Zeffy pays the card fees, and earns from what parents choose to give it.
  • Auctions, memberships, and pages supporters set up to raise money for you.
  • Tax receipts for donations, if your group is a charity that can give them.
