Fundraising ideas for schools, P&Cs and clubs

Pre-orders, raffles, ticketed nights, stalls and appeals: everyday fundraisers that work, and how to run each one from your phone.

Pre-order with a collection day

Families order and pay before the day, and collect from school or the club. Nobody chases money, and you know exactly how many to order from the supplier.

  • Mango drive Trays of mangoes, collected in late November or early December. How to run it
  • Lamington or pie drive Order from a bakery by the box. Works any term.
  • Hot cross buns Collected the week before Easter.
  • Christmas puddings, cakes or trees Ordered in November, collected before school breaks up.
  • Firewood or mulch Firewood for winter, mulch for spring. Order by the load or the bag.
  • Plants and seedlings Spring planting, from a local nursery.
  • Club or school shirts and hoodies Order sizes upfront, so you only buy what's paid for.

Raffle

Sell tickets online and they're numbered for you, so the draw is simple and everyone who paid is in it.

  • Christmas hamper raffle A hamper made from donated goods, drawn at the end of the year.
  • Easter raffle Baskets of eggs, drawn before the Easter holidays.
  • Mother's Day or Father's Day raffle A gift pack, drawn the Friday before.
  • Meat tray raffle A club favourite, drawn weekly or at a home game.
  • Big prize raffle A prize donated by a local business, like a weekend away or a TV.

Raffle rules differ in each state, and bigger prizes can need a permit. Check with your state's gaming or fair trading office before you start.

Ticketed event

Sell tickets before the night, stop selling once it's full, and tick people off at the door.

  • Trivia night Sell tables or single seats. Add a raffle on the same page.
  • Movie night A film on the oval or in the hall, with snacks.
  • School disco Tickets per child, so you know numbers for supervision.
  • Bingo night Easy to run, and a good one for grandparents.
  • Club dinner or presentation night Sell seats or whole tables, and stop when the room is full.

Stall or bake sale

People pay at the table with their phone: scan the QR sign, pay, and show the stall it's paid. No card machine or cash tin needed.

  • School fete or fun day One sign for each stall, so a scan at the cake stall opens just the cakes.
  • Cake stall Before or after school, at assembly, or on sports day.
  • Sausage sizzle At a working bee, a sports carnival or election day.
  • Second-hand uniform sale Price each piece, and mark it sold out when it's gone.
  • Market stall A stall at a local market, run by volunteers on a roster.

Donations

People give any amount, or tap a suggested one. Put it on your own website or share the link.

  • Gold coin or free dress day Families give online instead of sending coins to school.
  • Building or playground appeal Show a goal, so people can see how close you are.
  • Library or sports gear appeal A smaller goal with something everyone can see when it's done.
  • Community appeal For a family in need, or a local cause after a flood or fire.
