Sorted Fundraising or TryBooking?
Both take payments online for schools, P&Cs and clubs. Here's where each one fits, what the fees come to on the same orders, and when you get the money.
- TryBooking suits
- School concerts with seat maps, formals, parent-teacher interview bookings, and big nights with tickets scanned at the door.
- Sorted suits
- Things families order ahead and collect on one day, raffles, and fetes with a QR sign on every stall.
- Fees
- Similar on bigger orders, and less on small ones like raffle tickets. With Sorted, parents pay exactly your price, and can round up at checkout so your group keeps all of it.
- Or use both
- Keep TryBooking for the school concert, and run your pre-orders and raffles here.

What the fees come to
With Sorted, parents pay exactly your price, and at checkout they can round up for your group with one tap. The smallest round-up covers both fees, so on that order your group keeps at least the full price. It's always their choice, never ticked for them, and we take no fee on it. See Pricing.
With TryBooking, parents pay its ticket fee and 2.5% comes out of your takings. To cover that too, you pass the 2.5% on, and then every parent pays it.

Getting the money in time to pay the supplier
Sorted FundraisingEvery payment goes straight into your group's own Square account, and Square usually pays it into your bank the next day. The money for your supplier is there well before collection day.
TryBookingTryBooking holds the money until you ask for it. Its help centre recommends waiting until after the event, and says money before then isn't guaranteed and can take up to 7 days of checks. If your supplier wants paying before the day, ask TryBooking first.
Collection day
Sorted FundraisingVolunteers open the pickup link on their own phones, with nothing to sign up for. They search a family's name, hand over what's on the list and tap Mark collected, and you can see who's still to come. See Run collection day.
TryBookingTryBooking is built around tickets at the door: its scanning app checks tickets, even without wifi. Its page for schools doesn't mention pre-orders or a collection day.
Raffles
Sorted FundraisingEvery ticket is numbered the moment it's paid and emailed to the buyer, so there are no paper tickets. See Run a raffle draw.
TryBookingTryBooking sells raffle tickets the way it sells event tickets, online or in person on its box office app. On a $2 ticket, its 15¢ fee and 2.5% come to 20¢, a tenth of the ticket.
Stalls at a fete
Sorted FundraisingEach stall gets its own QR sign. People scan it, pay on their own phones and show the stall Payment confirmed, so there's no card machine to pass round. See Run a fun day with stalls.
TryBookingTryBooking's box office app turns a volunteer's phone into a card reader, for selling at the gate or the canteen.
Where TryBooking does more
- Seat maps, so parents choose their seats for a concert or a school play.
- Booking times, like parent-teacher interviews.
- A scanning app for tickets at the door that works without wifi.
- No Square account needed. With Sorted, the money goes into your group's own Square account. If you don't have one, you open one for free as you set up.
